إِذَا:  ظرف زمان

"When"

هَوَىٰ

Singular, masculine; made to fall down; extend or stretch forth; a hollow or cavity in the ground.

بِمَوَاقِعِ

a thing or affair happened, took place; executed, performed or realized. Occasion, event, fact, literally places, locations.

بِٱلْخُنَّسِ

Plural.

Draw backwards, recede, retreated, retired, retrograded,

Signifies shrinking and drew together; become hidden or absent. Signifies also becoming depressed. Hide; holding back; hanging back; or lagging behind:

ٱلْكُنَّسِ

Plural

covert or hiding place or chamber, abode or cave. The place where sweepings are thrown. One who sweeps privies.

 ٱلطَّارِقُ

in the Mufradat of Er-Righibsaid to signify a wayfarer;[act. part. n. of Taraqa and as such generally meaning coming or comer.

Root: ث ق  ب

piercing, shone and glistened intensely, bright; streak of light, incandescence.

 

 

 

Stars, upper skies---and Sky of the Earth, our Solar System.

 

 Quran e Majeed has mentioned about the Stars as under:

"And Allah is the One Who has appointed for you stars  so that with that you people may guide/find direction in the dark {unmarked} spaces of land and sea.

 We have made distinct Our Ayat so that people may know/get informed" {Refer 06:97}

"And the Stars are objects subjected to submissiveness by His Command. It is for Him to Create and command/Ordain" {Refer 7:54}

"And with one star they get the direction/destination/guidance" {Ref 16:16}

"And He has subjected {subjugated to a set discipline} the Night and the Day and the Sun and the Moon to submissiveness. And the Stars are objects subjected to submissiveness by His Command. Certainly in this subjugation to a set discipline are signs for people to interpret/ponder"{Refer 16:12}

         Quran e Majeed claims about itself that it is "", i.e. a statement of absolute fact. It once said that He has appointed stars {it is plural} and then it is said people get direction with one star {it is singular}. Quran e Majeed was meant not only for those Arabs who were to listen it first but for the entire humanity in time and space. Therefore its language is such that it contains and narrates a fact in such a manner that it should seem and could have been perceived as an absolute truth by its first listeners and prove to be an absolute fact for the posterity for whom the knowledge of the universe will keep unfolding. The above statement of the Quran e Majeed is a fact from whatever angle it may be seen. In common knowledge people perceive that North/Pole Star is one but that is not the fact. Today North Star is Polaris but in 7500 there will be some other Star as Pole Star and in 15000 another one will take this place and after 9000 years today's North Pole Polaris will again be stationed there. Let us verify the fact with thanks from Encarta:

"North Star or Polestar, conspicuous star in the northern hemisphere, located closest to the point toward which the axis of the earth is directed, thus roughly marking the location of the north celestial pole. A polestar has been used by navigators throughout recorded history for charting navigation routes and is still used for determining true azimuth and astronomic latitude. The positions of the celestial poles change as the earth's axis moves with the earth's precessional motion (see Ecliptic), and as the north celestial pole assumes different positions relative to the constellations, different stars become the North Star.

During the past 5000 years the line of direction of the North Pole has moved from the star Thuban, or Alpha (a) Draconis, in the constellation Draco, to within one degree of the bright star Polaris, also known as Alpha (a) Ursae Minoris, in the constellation Ursa Minor (Little Dipper), which is now the North Star. Polaris is a binary star of second magnitude, and is located at a distance of about 300 light-years from the earth. It is easy to locate in the sky because the two stars opposite the handle in the bowl of the dipper in the constellation Ursa Major (Big Dipper), which are called the Pointers, point to the star Polaris. In the year 7500 the brightest star in the constellation Cepheus, Alpha (a) Cephei, will mark the pole, and in the year 15,000 the star Vega, in the constellation Lyra, will be the North Star. Now consider the similarity between the Messengers and Pointers. All of them pointed towards only one source for guidance, the Book of Allah. Messengers, like the North Star kept changing in time and space, but the location of point of guidance remained the same. If a group of people differs in the unmarked areas of earth and waters about the direction, which will come to their guidance? North Pole, none else. Anyone who takes it as a guide to know the right direction will find the path and the one who refuses to take it as a guide shall remain wandering. This suggests that if one wishes to reach the destination safe and sound he will have to bind himself with the Book. But this is the dilemma of humanity that while they know vividly that there cannot be two sources of guidance, yet run away from the Book to meet their own desires and choices in life.             

  Grand Quran has further spoken about the Stars:

"And for part of the night also you praise Him,- and at the retreat of the stars" {Refer 52:49}

"By the particular Star, when he empties, stretches, scatters, falls" {Refer 53:01}

              The Arabic Mubeen of Quran e Mubeen describes every non living thing or object either in masculine or feminine gender like the living creatures. Here a distinct, specific, known Star is described since it is preceded by definite article "ال" and is different from other stars since this has been described as masculine while other stars are mentioned with feminine gender.

"And He is the Sustainer Lord of the Brightly Shining Star {Sirius}" {Refer 53:49}

"And I swear by the locations of the Stars. And certainly this adjuration you will find very great if you could know about the locations of the stars" {Refer 56:75-76}

           The locations of different stars has been indicated as something of great importance. This can be appreciated by those who explore and know the Milky Way Galaxy and farther galaxies and stars. Locations help astronomers determine the age of stars. Most O (blue) and B (blue-white) main-sequence stars are not randomly distributed throughout the sky. Instead, these stars tend to be grouped into associations lying along the spiral arms of the Milky Way. Some of these groups, such as one in the constellation Perseus, appear to be expanding. By extrapolating its expanding motion backward, astronomers can determine that the age of the expansion (and therefore the stars) is less than two million years.

            It is a common perception that one swears by something which is of great importance and sanctity. Apart from the locations of the stars there is another thing/object/place which has been used for swearing:

"And I swear by "Receded, Retrograded Ones which are "The swiftly moving particular hiding places/abodes/caves" {Refer 81:15-16}

Scientists may look into this swearing wherein the metaphors used are describing something/objects which have the nature/feature of receded, retrograded ones and  for others are hiding places/caves. Aren't these two verses referring to the concept of singularities-presence of many black holes?

"And the Sky and the "Wayfarer", and what thing will make you perceive that "Wayfarer"? {or, of the} The Brightly Shining Star" {Refer 86:01-03}
