Those among the People of the Book who had refused to accept, and the Polytheists/Idol Worshippers, could not possibly [without agent/causative matter] incline themselves to alienate/ separate/depart from long held notions/ways/legacy/myths/tradition
until the distinct/eye opening argument was brought to them; [98:01]
the Messenger from Allah, reading/reciting to them word by word from the papers kept aloof free from contamination/admixing/distinct/unpolluted/void of conjecture/Aa'ya'at/information, [98:02]
various permanent commands/values are prescribed/written therein. [98:03]
And those People whom the Book was given had not consciously and purposely bifurcated except after distinct/eye opening argument had been brought to them [now and earlier too-42:14]. [98:04]
And [even at that time] they were not commanded except that they should be subservient to Allah by remaining exclusively and continuously loyal to His prescribed way of life,
and to remain steadfast on As-Salat and to pay Az-Zakat; [Similar pronouncement in
9:36;12:40;30:30] And this is the straightly settled/permanent/Consistent/Permanent Method/perpetuated way/ discipline/Way of Life/operative system. [98:05]
It is certain that those among the People of the Book who persistently refused to accept [the Messenger and Grand Qur'aan, and died in that state] and the Polytheists/worshippers of hand sculpted idols will be in the scorching heat/Fire of the Hell-Prison
wherein they shall reside perpetually,
They are the people who proved/exposed themselves as disturbers of equilibrium/eternal truth. [98:06]

2:277;10:09;11:23;18:30,107;19:96;31:08;41:08;85:11;98:07] Indeed those people who [in time and space] accepted/believed [in the Word of Allah, His Aa'ya'at] and performed moderate righteous deeds
They are the people who proved/exposed themselves as the maintainers of equilibrium/eternal truth. [98:07]
Their reward is with their Sustainer Lord, [Same information in
20:76] Gardens of pleasant abode, streams flowing beneath/side-by them, they will reside therein permanently. [Same pronouncement in same words

58:22] Allah is pleased/has approved/appreciated/declared them successful and they are admiringly happy with His reward/blessing/forgiveness.
This [success, approval of conduct] is for such person who had fear and placed reliance exclusively upon his Sustainer Lord. [98:08]
