And indeed We had sent as Messengers in aforetimes before you about some of whom We have narrated to you and about the events of some of whom We have not narrated to you. [Similar information in 4:164]
And it has never been for a Messenger that he may bring a demonstrative unprecedented sign except with the prior permission of Allah.
Thereupon [on expiry of respite period] when came the Command of Allah the matter was finalized/ decided on the basis of proven fact o and at that point in time the conjectural conceptualists and scum mongers were at loss. [40:78] [Same information in 16:08;36:72;43:12] Allah is the One Who has made and declared for you people the herbivore mammals so that you may deploy some from them for riding/beast of burden;

For reason, when their Messengers had brought to them evident/distinct/unprecedented [miraculous] demonstrative Signs/Aa'ya'at
they boisterously rejoiced with that which they people had attained from the knowledge/technology [Same pronouncement in same words in
11:08;16:34;39:48;45:33;46:26]o and they will be hemmed with that about which they consciously adopted a non serious jesting attitude keeping themselves playful with. [40:83]
For reason/in consequence of their persistent unjust conduct when they saw Our affliction they said
"We have believed in Allah that He is the One; o and we have rejected that with which we kept ascribing associates with Him" [40:84]
For reason [of laid down principle] their declaration of believing at that point in time did not avail them benefit when they had since seen Our infliction.
This is the principle/precedence of Allah that has preceded amongst His created ones, o and at that point in time the persistent deniers were at loss. [40:85]
