Indeed Allah had chosen and elevated Adam [alai'his'slaam], and Noah [alai'his'slaam]
and the family of Iebra'heim [alai'his'slaam] and the family of Imr'aan [Allah be pleased with him]
over the people/worlds. [3:33]
Some were the offspring of some other. [This information is also in

3:121;9:98,103;24:21,60] And Allah is eternally The Listener, The Absolute Knowledgeable [of everything, visible and concealed/infolded]; [3:34]
[Allah was listening] When the wife of Imr'aan said,
"My Sustainer Lord! I have pledged/assigned him who is in my belly/pelvis, purely and exclusively for You, therefore, You accept it from me. [Same pronouncement in
2:127] Certainly You are The Ever Listener, The Knowledgeable". [3:35]
[contrary to her expectation of male child] Then, when she delivered her, she said, "My Sustainer Lord! I have delivered her a girl!";
and Allah knew what she had delivered;
and the male is never like the female;
[reverting from parenthetic, she further said] "and I have named her Maryem,
and I seek Your refuge for her and her progeny from the accursed Shai'atan" [3:36]
Thereupon her Sustainer Lord granted her a pleasant acceptance and developed her nicely like nice botanicals and Zakaria [alai'his'slaam] took the responsibility of guardian/looking after her.
Each and every time Zakaria [alai'his'slaam] had entered the sanctuary to meet her, he always found by her side some of eatables.
[one day] He asked, "O Maryam! how/from where you get this sustenance?"
She replied, "That is from the grace of Allah.

2:212;3:27;24:38;65:03] Indeed Allah provides sustenance, to whomever He wishes, without measure/cause and effect relationship" [3:37]
[Maryem's reply clicked a reality, ignoring cause and effect phenomenon] Immediately there and then Zakaria [alai'his'slaam] prayed to His Sustainer Lord.
He said, "My Sustainer Lord! grant me from Your grace a nice beneficial offspring.
Indeed You listen the prayer". [3:38][Read in conjunction 19:02-03]
[his prayer was accepted] Therefore there and then while he stood for prayer in the secluded chamber Angels informed him,
"Indeed Allah gives you good news of Yahya,
he will be the affirmer of this word/promise [to you] from Allah
and he will be taken as distinguished dignitary, and one encircled by people, and Elevated/Chosen servant [Nabi] from amongst the righteous". [3:39]
[In the light of cause and effect phenomenon on this unprecedented happening] He said, "My Sustainer Lord! How for me could be a son while I have already crossed over late age to extremity of age and moreover my wife is infertile?" [Read in conjunction 19:04,08]
He replied, "The reason of so happening is that Allah does any new act/executes what He likes [He is not subject or bound by cause and effect; His Will is Primal Cause].[3:40]

19:10] Zakaria [alai'his'slaam] said," My Sustainer Lord! [for happening/occasion of this] appoint for me some visible mark of cognition".

19:10] He told him, "the mark of cognition for you is that you will not be able to talk to people for three days [and three nights also, without being dumb-19:10] except by signaling.
And you remember Allah excessively
and [for this purpose] and recall/describe repetitively the Praises of Allah at dusk and dawn". [3:41]
